Assam Police Notification To Hire 9000 People By Year-End, Assam Police Bharti 2018 : Assam Police has announced that it would recruitment nearly 9000 people by the end of this year against the current vacancy of over 12000 posts in the police force. The Assam State Police Recruitment Board chairman as well as the director general of home guards Pradeep Kumar said that, “We currently have a total vacancy of 12000 posts on non-gazetted officers, of which 8000 are constable ranks. Besides 79 posts of DSP and 154 inspectors are lying vacant.”

The ratio of Assam Police is, 107 personnel for every 1 lakh population, while the UN norm is 210 for every 1 lakh people. Assam police is completing the current recruitment process for 3980 posts which would be completed by the end of the next month. The chairman added, “The Government of Assam has also asked us to recruit 5013 people for various posts. During July-August, we will surely bring out the advertisement for these posts and the appointment process will probably be completed by the end of this year.”

According to him, “We are waiting for the government’s new recruitment policy. We have suggested some new provisions like 10% reservation for backward regions, 2% for sports quota ad 2% for the surrendered militants. The government has not finished yet,” Kumar said.

He said for sports quota Assam Police has suggested direct recruitment to DSP for Olympic gold medalists, direct recruitment as inspector for winning Olympic gold, silver or bronze in Asian or Commonwealth Games. And a special 2% quota for the national or state level players. “We have also sent a proposal to the centre to raise three India Reserve battalions. If that is sanctioned, we will be adding 3000 more personal in the force,” Kumar said.

Assam police has sanctioned strength of 74000 people, of which 12000 are lying vacant at all levels. The representation from different areas is also not symmetrical. The hill districts have only 0.2% representation in Assam Police, while it is just 1.67% from BTAD (Bodoland Territorial Area Districts) area. Tinsukia and Sadiahave less then 6%people in the force adding these anomalies are likely to be addressed in the new recruitment policy.
